The ACC Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists is a list of ACC members who meet the standards required for registration. The Register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health & Social Care, which is an independent body accountable to Parliament. You can find out more about them at Professional Standards Authority
All our registrants are signed up to act within ACC’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice Ethics and Practice document . This requires them to have appropriate supervision and continuing professional development. There will be registrants who have ACC’s higher level of assurance through our accreditation programme and those members are shown additionally as ‘Registered and accredited’ on the Register. The Register provides a process of regulation for ACC. ACC therefore appointed, in agreement with the Professional Standards Authority, an independent Register Advisory Panel (RAP) of lay members not involved in counselling or psychotherapy who hold ACC to account to show that the standards for entry to the Register are upheld including the maintenance of the register and how it deals with receiving and investigating complaints through its professional complaints procedure.
