Removals, suspensions and sanctions

The following members have been removed from ACC’s register following complaint investigations.

August 2023, Jon, John and Jonathan Mason, register number R001102

Mr Mason was removed from ACC’s register of counsellors for failing to disclose that he had been removed from the Social Work Register in 2019 for professional misconduct.

Further Mr Mason demonstrated dishonesty in many of his online listings and websites, and in his dealings with ACC during the complaint investigation. Mr Mason also was found to have acted in a threatening way to ACC staff and associates.

The record of the disciplinary hearing is available here.

September 2023, Roddy Macdonald, register number R001187

Mr Macdonald was removed from ACC’s register of counsellors for breaches of ACC’s ethical code which indicate a continued risk to members of the public.

Mr Macdonald had failed to disclose to ACC that he had had a complaint upheld against him at BACP on his application to join the register. Further a separate complaint of serious professional misconduct was investigated and upheld by ACC. The panel found that Mr Macdonald, although genuinely remorseful, had not evidenced sufficient professional insight and understanding of his past actions, nor prepared fully on returning to counselling after an extended break, to satisfy them that he was safe to practice.

The record of the disciplinary hearing is available here.
