A one-day introduction to working somatically with trauma in therapeutic practice. The workshop explores how trauma is experienced and expressed through the body, and how therapists can work with nervous system responses, body sensations, movement, and regulation in a safe and effective way. The workshop will include teaching, discussion, a live demonstration, and experiential exercises designed to support understanding and application in clinical practice. Suitable for counsellors, psychotherapists, and trainees interested in integrating somatic awareness into their work.

Trainer
Greg James is a psychotherapist, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, teacher, and author who helps people navigate trauma, stress, and emotional overwhelm through a deeper understanding of the nervous system. He is the founder of the Centre for Somatic Resilience Training, the developer of the StateShift® Model, and author of Why Your Body Speaks and How to Listen, a practical guide to understanding the body's role in stress, trauma, and healing.
Originally from South Africa, Greg spent twenty-five years living and practising in the UK before returning to Cape Town. He now works internationally through therapy, supervision, training, and consultation, supporting both individual clients and organisations. Greg is a Christian and works with Christian ministries and humanitarian organisations seeking to strengthen the resilience and wellbeing of staff serving in challenging environments.
