Introduction to pastoral care: listening, presence and good practice

Introduction to pastoral care: listening, presence and good practice

This workshop is designed for church pastoral carers and pastoral visitors who are new to pastoral care or have little formal training. Together, we will explore the heart of pastoral care and the vital role it plays in supporting others. The workshop will cover:

  • An introduction to the purpose and value of pastoral care
  • Understanding pastoral care as a ministry of presence
  • The importance of good effective listening skills
  • Key principles of good practice that help ensure pastoral care is safe, healthy, and sustainable for both carers and those they support

Whether you are providing pastoral visits or other forms of pastoral care, the workshop offers a supportive space to reflect, learn, and build confidence in offering pastoral care within your church community.
