Extraordinary General Meeting

Extraordinary General Meeting

In the summer edition of Accord, we reported that the ACC Board had conducted a major review of the charity’s Articles of Association with the aim of ensuring that:

  • They reflect the planned additional membership streams, starting with coaches and mentors, and that the charitable purposes, structure and governance of the Board are appropriate to support current and new membership streams.
  • The charitable purposes are aligned with those defined within the Charities Act 2011, and that the Articles incorporate current charity and company legislation.
  • The Articles reflect the practicalities of how ACC governance operates.
  • The structure of the Articles provides clarity and consistency.

The ACC Board has spent considerable time reviewing every section of the Articles and has submitted those elements requiring Charity Commission approval to the Commission, which has made one minor change. The final version will be approved at the ACC Board meeting in September. The new Articles then need to be approved by ACC members at an Extraordinary General Meeting where the new Articles must be approved by at least 75 percent of those attending. The new Articles and a summary of the changes will be sent out prior to the meeting. During the meeting, the key changes will be explained and there will be time for questions. All members are strongly encouraged to attend, as the Articles determine the purposes and governance of ACC and we want members to be fully informed.
