Are you seeking fresh insights about pastoral care? Wishing to build upon your existing knowledge and skills? Looking to build your confidence to provide effective pastoral care? Then this 6-week online course might be for you.
It is best suited to experienced Christian pastoral carers or for those who have completed the Foundations in Pastoral Care. If you have previously joined us for the 10-week Resourcing Pastoral Care Course, this new option provides additional learning to extend your practice as a pastoral carer. We would hope that you are actively involved in pastoral care and regularly encounter a range of pastoral needs as you care for others.
Each week provides an engaging range of activities such as teaching, group work, discussion, individual reflection and prayer to enable:
- embedding of theory and practice through real scenarios
- exploration of the complexities of commonly encountered pastoral situations
- increased self-awareness and personal spiritual growth
Topics are many and varied; it is a full programme. We include advanced listening skills; the use of empathy, presence, scripture and prayer; pastoral care responses to loss, grief, suffering and their impact on the journey of faith; pastoral support during bereavement and mental health challenges; spiritual need; preparing ourselves for pastoral care; attending to our own wellbeing and faith journey.
