The ACC Student Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists is a list of ACC members who meet the standards required for student registration. The Student Register will enable them to move towards being on the ACC Accredited Register approved and vetted by the Professional Standards Authority for Health & Social Care, which is an independent body accountable to Parliament. You can find out more about them at Professional Standards Authority
These Students are currently on an Appropriate Diploma Course (or higher education qualification)that when completed will entitle them to apply to be on the main ACC Accredited Register.
They must have the support and approval of their academic course Provider and Supervisor, as well as a thorough check by ACC, as to their readiness and suitability to practice within their competence. This means that they are not expected to take on clients outside their understanding, competence or ability. Students will work in an acceptable placement which the Course provider approves and must have professional indemnity insurance in place (either provided by the placement or themselves).
All our student registrants are signed up to act within ACC’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice Ethics and Practice document.
This requires them to have appropriate supervision and and agree to continuing professional development.
For more information about the different categories of Registrant Status click the link, Registration Grades Table but for Students there is only 1 level of registration.
