Queen’s Award for Magdalene Project

Massive congratulations: Queen’s Award for Magdalene Project

The great work of ACC affiliates can be seen in the context of the Magdalene Project, a specialist counselling service, being awarded one of the highest honours in the land.

The counselling service based in Bacup Lancashire and which is an affiliated member of ACC, has been awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which recognises 20 years of outstanding commitment and dedication to helping local people. It is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

The counselling service aims to deliver effective interpersonal counselling services from within the Christian ethos: specialising in supporting survivors of sexual trauma/abuse and their cares and promoting the development of expertise and good practice in all related areas. It is funded mainly by donations and grants and has recently won some funding from Children in Need.
