Doors of Hope Conference Sat 17th November 2018

Equipping the body of Christ in responding well to issues of mental and emotional ill health’. Venue: The Well Christian Centre, Swaffham Rd, Ashill, Thetford IP25 7BT.

The Fountain of Life Church in Ashill is hosting ‘Doors of Hope Conference’ on Saturday 17th November 2018 to equip the body of Christ in responding well to issues with mental and emotional ill health. Leaders, members of churches, pastoral care workers and counsellors working in a Christian setting are all welcome to attend.
Keynote speaker Mick Brooks – Chief Executive of CWR and Waverley Abbey College, will be talking about the theological perspective of why churches should respond to the mental health agenda and how they might offer hope to people who may either already attend church or those who walk through the church doors seeking support.
Revd Stephen Mawditt Minister at Fountain of Life hopes the day ‘will help reduce stigma around mental health and provide people with skills to respond’. Hannah Waite a PhD student being supervised by Professor John Swinton at the University of Aberdeen will be sharing with us her research into stigma, particularly around bi-polar and schizophrenia’.
Other topics being covered will be why we should respond and how, children’s spirituality and mental health conditions. There will be workshops covering the addictions of gambling, drugs, alcohol, sex and pornography, Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Resilience.

The fee is £15 and a CPD certificate of attendance will be provided for those who may need them. A bursary is available if necessary.
