NORTHERN IRELAND

ACC Northern Ireland has 101 members and 11 affiliated groups.

In-house training
Living in Northern Ireland limits our training opportunities, so the ACC Northern Ireland committee has contacted our affiliated members to ask them to open up their in-house training to others. The response has been very positive. If you would like to learn more about these training opportunities please contact our training co-ordinator, Alice Graham: alice_d_graham@hotmail.com.

Pastoral care
We are actively seeking to develop the pastoral care side of our ministry. If you would like to learn more, please contact Deane Houston: deane.houston@glenabbey.org.uk.

For more general information about the work of ACC Northern Ireland, Meriel Pinkerton can be contacted on 084 5123 5188 or nireland@acc-uk.org.

“ACC Northern Ireland is here to support and equip Christian counsellors and pastoral carers in our area,” says Meriel Pinkerton, ACC Northern Ireland representative. “Thank you for taking the time to read this web page.”

Time: 1930 – 2130
Venue: Londonderry
Speaker: Andrew Collins

Our autumn seminar this year will be presented in two venues, Belfast (The Mount Conference Centre, Woodstock Link) and Londonderry (Faughanvale Community Project, The Vale centre, Greysteel).

The committee have taken this decision to enable ACC members in the North and West of the province to attend and to build links with other counsellors in the surrounding area.

Our speaker, Dr. Andrew Collins, works part-time as a consultant psychiatrist in the field of Psychiatric Intensive Care. He also works part-time in the field of Christian counselling from his home in Portadown.

This training will help us with a number of questions like when to refer and where to refer. We hope that you will be able to join us at one of the above venues.

Most recent event

ACC NI held an evening seminar on Evidence-based practice entitled ‘How do we measure up?’ which was well attended and ably presented by Joanne Scott and Edith Bell (ACC Committee members). We were challenged as we reflected on the usage of a range of assessment and evaluation tools in counselling work. The evening proved to be a valuable networking opportunity with some members travelling a considerable distance to be present.
