Seminar
topics for discussion:
1. The TAC
System – values, philosophy and practice
A child’s TAC [Team Around the Child] will be presented as a small
multi-disciplinary team of just two, three or four people (parent +
practitioners) who work in close collaboration and have the authority and
flexibility to find creative solutions to the challenges faced by child and
family.
The TAC System will be offered as an approach that is
genuinely child-centred, genuinely family-centred and considerate of the
conditions under which practitioners are working.
This session will envisage a seamless journey for babies
and pre-school children and their families up to and over transition out of
pre-school services. Discussion will include a single front door, assessment of
need, the multi-agency referral panel and keyworker / lead
professional.
The phrase ‘family-centred’ can be a token expression with no substance in practical terms. If families were offered genuinely family-centred multi-agency support in the pre-school years, what might it include and what are the implications for service providers?

Saturday 10 April 2010: Working with the inner child
This course looks at the emotional impact of early childhood pain and how this can lead to a lost inner child who has taken the blame for the struggles we experience in life. Finding him or her can bring a depth of personal healing and release in the present. A very moving and empowering day, including art work, creative writing and working with symbols.
Saturday 29 May 2010: Understanding attachment
As infants we need a safe person to attach to in order to grow and develop well. If our key carer is not safe, we often build a ‘false self’ to try and please them, and this can affect relationships throughout our life. Many people feel confused about their feelings, both wanting help and pushing people away. Come and learn how Attachment Theory explains this and offers help and the possibility of change.
Tuesday 20 July 2010: Anger workshop
Learn how anger gets blocked often causing sickness and depression... how emotions can be repressed in childhood... how to release angry feelings safely. This day will also look at some interesting spiritual dynamics, and includes practical exercises and demonstrations.
Cost: £55 per day. £100 for two days. £135 for three days when booked together.
Timings: Each day will start with coffee and registration at 0930 and will finish at 1630.

Being able to identify and remove limiting beliefs is of prime
importance to anyone wishing to facilitate change. To change limiting
thought patterns, uncomfortable feelings, unwanted behaviours, take
responsibility for one’s health, reduce stress responses, etc. will
require belief work, because what we believe creates the reality we
experience. This intensive workshop covers detailed information about
discovering beliefs and how to use the Mistaken Belief Visualisation
(MBV), to rapidly change them.
This one-day workshop is formatted as information, demonstration and
practice. It is a workshop where qualified counsellors have the
opportunity to learn one of five specialist therapeutic techniques
extracted from the Parks Inner Child Therapy (PICT) Childhood Abuse
Training course.
Lindsay is a Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist with a private practice
near Croydon, South East London. She has specialised for work with
trauma and children. Lindsay presents the PICT course and workshops,
counselling training and skills, and her own workshops on counselling
children. Lindsay is a licentiate member of the NCP, and a member of
the ACC, BACP and BABCP; Lindsay is married with two teenage sons and a
menagerie of animals.
