SPECIAL PRAYER DAYS
The Head Office team at ACC held the first of three special Prayer Mornings on July the 28th, focussing specifically on the Strategy and Board Meetings which will be held at the end of September. There was a good spirit of prayer and even the telephone did not interrupt. If you are able to pray as we meet, the next times of prayer will be on Wednesdays 25th of August and 22nd of September, again in the morning.
HOLIDAY SEASON
For many this will be a time for holidays. Pray for refreshing as many take a well-earned break. As a result there are no committee meetings in August. A foretaste of heaven?
ONLINE PAYMENTS
Our online payments scheme has been tested and is nearly ready to go live. Please pray that any hidden problems which may not have surfaced will be identified. Give thanks for those who have been willing to test the scheme for us.
CONFERENCE PREPARATIONS
Preparations are well under way for the ACC conference at the end of January 2011 and bookings are already coming in. Remember those who will be preparing training and workshops. Details of speakers and sessions are available via the link on left hand side.
COUNSELLING IN RURAL AREAS
Counsellors in rural areas may encounter the kinds of problems outlined in this report which was received from the Rural Missions Network.
"While some people have delighted in hot dry days this summer, it has not been good news for many of the UK's farmers. The corn harvest is expected to be poorer than normal which will make it a tough year for many arable farmers. And there is always a knock-on effect for beef and dairy farmers who have to buy in feed. Some farm feed suppliers have already served notice of increased prices. The lack of rain has also resulted in poor quality and supply of hay.
This situation is just one more aggravation in a tough industry, coping with generally small or non-existent profit margins. For the beef and dairy industry the spread of Bovine TB is another serious worry.
It is good to know that the Farm Crisis Network offers free and confidential advice and help when the going gets tough. FCN has a network of competent local people throughout the country who understand farming and are able to come alongside farmers and their families in times of need. No one should have to go through dark and difficult times on their own but sadly, not every farmer knows of this free service. The FCN helpline number is 0845 367 9990. More information about the work of Farm Crisis Network is available on their website at www.farmcrisisnetwork.org.uk.”
