Counselling Manager
When a person has gained extensive experience (in excess of 10 years) in counselling and/or supervisory practice and is now spending considerable time managing and training counsellors and/or managing an Agency they may apply in this category.
Requirements for accreditation as a Counsellor Manager :-
- Agreement with the ACC's "Statement of Faith".
- Agreement to work within the terms of ACC's "Ethics and Practice" document.
- The applicant should have previously been accredited to at least Counselling Practitioner or Accredited Counsellor level.
- Photocopies of logged evidence of the applicant's counselling practice for 1 year (normally showing at least 50 hours of practice).
- Evidence of the training courses being provided and/or the management duties being undertaken. Evidence of hours being completed regularly in these roles should be submitted. These claims should be separately endorsed by others such as a trustee, a minister and/or a supervisor.
- Reference from the applicant's supervisor. This must be on the form currently approved by the ACC and must reflect the experience, competence and good practice of the applicant.
- Reference from the applicant's Church Leader who will confirm that the applicant is a maturing Christian and in fellowship with other Christians.
- Submission of an updated personal training portfolio with copies of certificates obtained.
- One case study (approx. 1250 words) taken from the last year of practice.
- Proof of adequate professional indemnity insurance.
Certification lasts for 4 years but applicants will be reminded approximately 6 months before their accreditation is due to lapse to avoid any member having an obsolete certificate. At this point a Counsellor Manager will have two options :-
Option 1. To apply for a Maintenance certificate which would require :-
i) All the original documents completed up to date with new references supplied (except for the case study).
ii) Produce additional documentation showing at least 40 hours of training in the last four years.
Option 2. Apply, if appropriate, for another category.
